Celebrating Oktoberfest
On October 12, 1810 Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Their celebration lasted for 5 days with all of the people of Munich invited. The townsfolk enjoyed the event so much that they repeated it the next year until it became ritualized every year.
Nowadays, pubs in UK celebrate Oktoberfest with different events and parties to commemorate this wonderful ritual. Ladies are usually seen wearing beer maid or tavern girl costumes during the festivities. Tents are setup all over the streets of Europe to show appreciation to the best beverage consumed all over the world.
This just goes to show that beer has been part of our history and culture. Drinking a few bottles with our friends and family is a perfect opportunity to loosen up and celebrate life.
